The Importance of Healthy Sleep Patterns



Introduction

People often ignore healthy sleep patterns, where sleep patterns are a basic human need. Sleep is a very important human need to maintain physical and mental health because when we sleep our body organs also rest. If we don't sleep, then you will feel tired and it can cause death.                            

Having sufficient and quality sleep is the key so that we feel fresh and fit when carrying out activities throughout the day. But there are still many who ignore the importance of getting enough sleep and this can have a negative impact on overall health.

How Long is the Ideal Sleep Duration?

Each individual's sleep needs can vary, depending on factors such as age, health, genetic factors, and daily activity factors. Among other things, babies need 14-17 hours, toddlers 11-14 hours, school-age children 9-11 hours, teenagers 8-10 hours, young adults and adults 7-9 hours, and the elderly 7-8 hours per night. Getting enough sleep can build immunity and other health conditions, while a lack of sleep time can cause various diseases that can be dangerous.

Healthy Sleep Patterns

We must avoid things that can disrupt our healthy sleep patterns by avoiding habits that can disrupt sleep such as consuming food or even alcoholic drinks before bed and playing with electronics such as cellphones. We can also create a comfortable and calm sleeping environment every night and carry out routines that can help improve the quality of our sleep.

The Importance of Adequate Sleep

Having enough sleep has many benefits for our body's health. Getting enough sleep can help the body recover and relax after a day's activities. Getting enough sleep can also help our brain's performance, where after sleep our brain can think positively and can also improve our mood.

Benefits of a Healthy Sleep Pattern

  • Increase productivity concentration: this can help us be more productive, more focused, and more concentrated in completing work. 
  • Strengthens the immune system: getting enough sleep can also increase the body's resistance. With strong immunity, the body is able to fight various germ infections so that the body is not easily attacked by disease. 
  • Maintaining heart health: not getting enough sleep can have a bad impact on blood vessels and the heart, especially if you already have heart disease or high blood pressure. And when we sleep, the body releases hormones that keep the heart healthy. And also blood pressure becomes stable because the heart and blood vessels can rest while we are sleeping.

Tips to Improve Sleep Quality

  • Pay attention to food and drink before bed 
  • Make room conditions as comfortable as possible 
  • Do this habit before going to bed 
  • Create a regular sleep schedule, even on weekends 
  • Limit nap time 
  • Do regular exercise and avoid exercising at night

Poor sleep quality can cause various health problems such as the brain not being optimal and the body becoming sick easily. We certainly need an adequate sleep pattern so that the next morning the body is fresh after getting enough rest. If you don't get enough sleep, your body becomes easily tired, sleepy, or experiences other illnesses. And let's create sufficient quality sleep by making the bed environment comfortable.
